Elegant Apartment with a View

Our private second floor apartment with comfortable bedding and seating is an easy 5 minute walk to everything in San Marcos. It’s bright, convenient, secure, and quiet (you might not appreciate the quiet part till you get here and know this town).

View from the kitchen

This private, secure, and comfortable second level apartment has a small kitchen with stove/oven and fridge, its own covered porch, and a wonderful view of Lake Atitlan and 7, including some live, volcanos. The short 5 minute walk to town makes it easy for shopping, activities, and restaurants, but far enough for quiet nights. The wood furniture for this apartment was hand built by me, having been a cabinetmaker in the states for 25 years. The queen orthopedic bed is provided with 100% cotton sheets, and the bathroom, with 24 hour hot water from a brass rain shower head, sufficient towels, and complimentary shampoo and soap for stays less than a week. The sofa converts to an extra bed for a child or third person.

The apartment is located inside a secure walled garden and has wifi internet access and use of the washing machine and covered clothes drying area. There’s a wonderful private garden to enjoy and often other guests staying with me in the house, or the other apartment, from all destinations, to chat and exchange information with.

this place is particularly lovely, comfortable, well situated

Carlos is perhaps the ideal host, someone who enjoys meeting and getting to know his guests and sharing generously what he knows with them. Although the listing was quite accurate, it did not prepare us for the truly extraordinary experience of being in San Marcos. a Mayan village with foot paths and only a few roads for auto traffic on Lake Atitlan. By San Marcos standards, this place is particularly lovely, comfortable, well situated–far enough above the center of the village to offer some tranquility–close enough to make it easy to get to the center. The view is from the apartment is quite breathtaking.

true to the pictures and even more magnificent in person

Our stay at Carlos’ apartment was magical. It is true to the pictures and even more magnificent in person. Carlos’ attention to detail in all the furniture and the furnishings was impeccable. The queen sized bed was heaven to sleep on – most comfortable bed of our whole stay in the country, and the sheets and towels all of excellent, plush quality. The views from the front porch were second to none (and be sure to catch the views at sunrise before the mist of the morning comes and covers the volcanoes). We travelled at the end of November, when the daytime temperatures were extremely comfortable and it got down to the 60s and upper 50s in the evenings. With the amazing wool blanket on the bed, we had blissful sleep for two evenings and couldn’t have been more comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked with a fridge, pot, pans, blender, gas stove and oven and cooking utensils. We took advantage of the amenities and cooked breakfast during our stay, which we enjoyed out on the patio overlooking the beautiful garden beneath us and volcanoes in front of us.

Big comfortable bed and high quality linen and textiles

Stylish studio apartment perfect for rest and relaxation. Big comfortable bed and high quality linen and textiles. Lots of storage. Well decorated and full of character. Bathroom featuring mosaic tiles and a rain shower is lovely. As it the seating area on the balcony. Apartment is located a short walk into the forest from the main road so being a flashlight. Carlos’ son was on hand for everything I needed. He went above and beyond helping me during a thunder storm. Perfect host. It was great to have the extended family located at their restaurant nearby.

The quality of finish on the home was second to none

We stayed with Carlos for a month, and it was just delightful. Carlos has done a super job building this forest oasis, which is secure, welcoming and just a delight to come home to every day. It is off the beaten track but San Marcos township is just few minutes walk through the forest. It had very good internet which meant you could keep in touch with the world, but at the same time feel comfortably free. The attention to detail was reflected in a super comfortable bed. lovely bedding and towels. The quality of finish on the home was second to none. Carlos is a skilled cabinet maker and that quality of finish was apparent on everything he had built. The property is slightly above the township and the view from the balcony is simply breathtaking.

Quiet, friendly, beautifully designed, good location out of the hustle and bustle….

Highly recommended, a great find – I am so happy we stayed here! Quiet, friendly, beautifully designed, good location out of the hustle and bustle but walking distance from everything, a really ideal base to explore San Marcos and surrounding towns. The apartment is nice and quiet (surprisingly a lot of places at the lake aren’t with the traffic or roosters or people) so we slept really well. We felt very lucky to arrive on a Friday and hear Carlos play his blues night in Blind Lemons, his restaurant. What talent! Carlos is one of the highlights of the place, so relaxed and friendly and helpful, really interesting to talk to. It feels nice to have a friend around! Carlos was very flexible and accommodating when I wanted to change my dates (after booking) so we actually stayed in the Master Bedroom in his house too (which is separately listed on here) and that is also fantastic. Stay here!! Ps I recommend trying the sauna in the back yard – they light it with a wood fire for you and it’s a great experience.

The apartment itself has all you need

Nice place to stay for a few nights! Walking distance to the cosy town of San Marcos. The apartment itself has all you need (nice balcony and bathroom; gas stove, water tank, fridge) and has a beautiful view over the lake.

I highly recommend this place, but keep in mind you’ll need a flashlight at night

Carlos’ apartment at 7 Volcanos is a nice respite for a weekend getaway or longer stay. The room is spacious and includes a fully equipped kitchen, drinking water, and nice bathroom. I stayed over a long weekend to explore San Marcos and Lake Atitlan and really enjoyed my time. I highly recommend this place, but keep in mind you’ll need a flashlight at night to make the short walk through the woods if you are enjoying the ‘night’ life (everything pretty much closes up around 9:30-10pm in San Marcos). 🙂

Could stay there forever!!

It’s been such a great experience staying at Carlos’ place. Nice, comfortable and clean house at an unbeatable location. Could stay there forever!! Communication was fast and effective. Good value for the price. San Marcos and the lake Atitlan itself are such wonderful places and Carlos’ spot makes it the perfect stay. Amazing!!

the balcony is a lovely spot to relax away from the San Marcos scene

We really enjoyed our stay at Carlos’ beautiful apartment. Carlos was very welcoming, and the apartment was very clean and quiet. We loved the fact that it was only accessible by way of a narrow footpath above the center part of town, but we were also lucky to have the help of Carlos’ son with our luggage the first day. Without that, the uphill climb might have been intimidating. But if you’re only carrying a backpack, no problem. The apartment is beautifully furnished, and the balcony is a lovely spot to relax away from the San Marcos scene. We also had a great time at Carlos’ restaurant, Blind Lemon’s, and had a blast listening to him jam a couple of nights. Besides, that Blind Lemon’s had the most amazing french fries. I wish I had that recipe!

great location only a couple minutes from the water, restaurants, and more

Wonderful place to stay for a weekend in San Marcos! Carlos was very responsive and helpful with any and all requests, and the house is in a quiet and great location only a couple minutes from the water, restaurants, and more. The house also had an incredible view of the lake and volcanoes. We would definitely stay here again!

The location is ideal for a couple who prefer comfort and quiet….

We loved everything about this apartment! The location is ideal for a couple who prefer comfort and quiet surrounded by lush gardens and wild tropical forests. The view from the balcony and the windows of the volcanoes is captivating, and it’s a quick downhill walk to town. Carlos is a genial and generous host, he went out of his way when we required special needs. Would definitely stay here again!

The property is so gorgeous, as is the short trail to get there.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 weeks and loved the place! It really did feel like a piece of home for us. It was very cozy and comfortable. We never found ourselves needing anything we didn’t have. It’s close enough to everything, yet removed enough that you get as much peace and quiet as you want. The property is so gorgeous, as is the short trail to get there. Carlos was great and expressed his desire to help us have the best stay we could. I would definitely recommend to anyone and this is an excellent option for longer term stays!

7 Volcanes was named for the 7 volcanoes that are visible from the apartment's front porch. The views daily are great, but the views in the early morning and evening are often spectacular, often viewing the Fuego Volcano's embers and spewing smoke trails.
